Shelly comes from a Native American family in the Southwest and she is very proud of her Comanche heritage. She was the last child of eight and has seven older brothers that have helped to nurture her tenacious spirit.  She began studying the cello in gradeschool, but it was in highschool that she began experimenting with a bass guitar.  After performing in the school's quartet, sometimes with her cello and sometimes with her bass guitar, she went on to college for a music degree. When not performing with her band "Fermented Banana" Shelly works in her father's auto repair garage.  She has no problem working with heavy industrial equipment and getting her hands dirty, nor does she feel this detracts from her femininity.  In her eyes it's more applicative than paying to go to a gym. The one real soft spot Shelly has is for Owen, her bandmate and best friend.  She has known him since gradeschool, however she won't admit she has a crush on him.
