Microdirect has a 1GB USB2 flash drive on special for £65.74 including VAT. This is a Seitech drive but the brand name is not terribly important with these as you don't see much performance difference, most are actually just rebrands of another company anyway.
For a price like that it's time to throw away all the floppys and even the CDRW disks and go straight to solid state memory. The flash drives are incredibly resilient and you would have to try hard to damage the data on these. On a side note, the BBC tried
damaging some flash memory cards for an article. The cards survived a washing machine, immersion in Coke and coffee and being run over by a skateboard.
