MetroFi builds community area networks

access. Using enhanced technology based on the popular
Wi-Fi (802.11) standard, MetroFi combines a new level

MetroFi takes a holistic approach to network rollout,
activating an entire community at once for pervasive
broadband coverage. Using proven 802.11 a/b/g technologies
with enhancements, MetroFi creates a robust wireless
network designed for reliable High Speed connectivity.
MetroFi’s unique network architecture overcomes
deployment obstacles by providing multiple redundant
paths for data. The network uses roof-top mounted antennae
that transmit data via radios mounted on light poles
throughout the community. These radios translate the
signals to 802.11b/g for transmission to the customer
– providing standards-based broadband access for
any Wi-Fi enabled device, anywhere in the network. To
optimize the service, MetroFi provides easy-to-install
customer premises equipment (CPE) that creates a secure,
high-performance link to the Internet.
