Route de la Slack : Rarities EP (!K7195EP)

[13th March 2006]

Dear DJs and record aficionados, here's something to look forward to! The second single from Swayzak's "Route de la Slack" collection gives us three unreleased vinyl highlights, compiled by James Taylor and David "Brun" Brown.

"Make up Your Mind" was the advance single from Swayzak's highly acclaimed Dirty Dancing LP on !K7. If you didn't get enough of Swayzak's kick-ass Dub Techno back then, here's a new version of the 2002 smash hit. Layering Clair Dietrich's vocals over a pounding bassline, this is the sound of Swayzak at their best.

"Grace's State." For those who have never experienced Swayzak's dancefloor domination firsthand, "Grace's State", this previously unreleased version of the electro pop anthem "State of Grace" explains it all: Hi-hats and drums churn while Kirsty Hawkshaw's hypnotizing voice takes us on a journey. Whoever is not captured by this track has never experienced late night euphoria.

"Saints," the bleakly teetering downbeat killer, translates the well-known Swayzak sound into the sound of the Nineties - and in doing so, it tells a lot about Swayzak's evolutionary process within last decade. This track is more hip hop flavoured than techno, the sound is still unmistakably Swayzak.
