I don't think I'll ever be ready if that's what it takes! ;D Thanks for the congrats :) I probably will try to blog a little about my personal experiences there - I know reading others' journals helped me decide to apply... |
Whoa! Clarion! Too cool!
Start getting in shape NOW: 8 hrs sleep a night; regular aerobics; balanced meals; meditation; have someone hit you in your (clenched) abdomen several times a day...lol You'll do great and have a lifetime experience, you lucky (talented) thang, you! Hope you'll keep a journal, for yourself if no one else. Congrats! |
Thanks Darja! I'm really looking forward to it. :D |
Congrats on getting into Clarion West, Tina. I went two years ago and had an amazing time. :)

lol. E-mail, and judges were Anne McCaffrey, Robert Silverberg, Yoji Kondo, Algis Budrys and K.D. Wentworth.
Good luck again! |
Hey Tina, congrats again on the new WotF Quarterfinalist! I didn't place that high last quarter. Was your response by mail or email? (And, sorry if I sound like a broken record, who were the judges?) |
Thanks Tina! |
thanks Tony! erm, let's see...
Sean Williams, Gregory Benford, Tim Powers, Brian Herbert and K.D. Wentworth good luck if you're still waiting! |
Hey Tina, congrats on the WotF Quarterfinalist. Who were the judges for this quarter? |
Thanks, Tina. I should probably stop holding my breath...
Jackie |
Hi Jackie - yep, via email. Good luck on your own sub there! |
I'm sorry to hear about the IGMS rejection, Tina. How'd it come, via email? Mine's been there for about 55 days, and I'm turning blue from holding my breath for so long...
Jackie |
well, congrats for sending them all right back out again. :)
at least maybe having a one-rejection day will seem like small potatoes now. ;) |
Thanks for your sympathies regarding my "day of horror" as far as advancing my writing goes, Tina. Well that's what I call it now... :)
But you know what. I sent them all out again once I had recovered from the shock of receiving that many rejects in one day. Tomorrow is a new day. Clyde |
not SF, but it is literate and witty, with hints of Aristotle, liberally sprinkled with catfights....
If you're in the KC area, consider spending an evening in the company of two women and a boy in a full bodycast. It's the world premiere of the comedy Blink Twice for Her at the lovely City Stage theatre at Union Station. Press release here or longer description here or tickets here. Hey, and if you tell me you're an SF writer from the rumor mill, I'll, let's see...make arrangements to give you the student discounted ticket. Supporting the artists who support the arts. :) |
You're welcome! |
grin. Thanks, Melissa! |
I especially liked the Star Wars bit. |
Thanks Terry!! What a nice compliment! |
Tina, what a neat little piece! One of those classic "why didn't *I* think of that???" gems. Congrats! |
Thanks, Oliver! It's a fun place to submit. |
Hey, congrats on the new release Tina. |
Fun! Games! My piece Yakchily 556's Totally Updated Movie Guide 4015: From Schrags to Conflags (TM) is up at the Eggplant Library. I love the library. |
So it's not SF, but I'm whoo hoo excited all the same. My romance novel was released this morning by a new e/small print pub. Go here or to my LJ to read about it! |
Well, the Borogove's first production premieres this weekend in Lawrence, KS. Provided the electrician finishes wiring the theatre we're renting, of course. Ah, being a producer. Our first play is not, after all, SF. But it is an extremely well-written & funny script called The Art of Conquering Aja, by Paige McLemore. The quick description:
What happens when you're a stressed-out, burned-out, art school drop-out? For a kleptomaniac like Aja, there's only one answer. She steals her favorite painting from the Chicago Museum of Art. The punishment for Aja's crime? GROUP THERAPY. Can her week get worse? Sure! Aja's obsessive-compulsive best friend and her washed-up lounge singer father take up stealing in order to get into her therapy session. Chaos ensues but everyone feels a lot better in the end! And sure, I'm biased, but our lead actress is exceptional in the role of Aja, and the play as a whole is very good. Witty and thoughtful. So, if you're in the KC area, come on by! I promise you'll enjoy it. Kleptomania. Lounge Singing. Therapy. The Art of Conquering Aja, at the ECM building on the KU campus, 12th & Oread. Fri 10/29 & 11/5 at 7:30, 10/30 & 11/6 @ 8:00. |
euchggh. Apparently we're having some server issues this morning. Please check back later tonight.
thanks tina |
Even without the www., Tina, this thing is either loading at a glacial pace or I'm going to get a 404 again. What am I doing wrong? |
No problem. After I got the error, I looked at the URL and said, "Hmm. I wonder if. . .?" :-) |
yes, thanks, Eric.
tina |
Thanks, Eric.
Got it. Greg |
Greg,
Remove the "www" from the link and it will work fine. Eric |
Tina, when I tried to follow your theater link, I got an error message.
Can you re-post the URL? (Or send guidelines?) Thanks. Greg Beatty gbeatty@earthlink.net |
