Young People

Welcome to the Electoral Reform Society’s youth engagement campaign. Here you'll find resources for youth workers and teachers on voting systems and elections, and how changing our voting system can help re-engage young people in politics

Young people are the future of any democracy, but their trust in politics in this country has never been so low. Making the switch to a fairer, more modern and democratic voting system is just one of the ways in which we can change our political culture to make it easier and more effective for them to have their say in the issues that affect them.

Citizenship and voting

Voting is at the heart of active citizenship, and our choice of voting system can have a dramatic effect on the kind of democracy we live in. The Electoral Reform Society works to provide information and teaching resources on voting and electoral systems for citizenship teachers.  At present we're developing a comprehensive teaching pack on voting systems used all over the UK suitable for Key Stage 3.
