About iCarnegie

iCarnegie, Inc., is an educational affiliate of Carnegie Mellon University and provider of modern, world-class software systems development curriculum and professional certifications.

Worldwide, there is a need to increase the number of well-trained, advanced software development personnel who must know more than just basic programming or hold vendor-specific expertise. These professionals must have a depth and breadth of skills in modern technologies, but must also possess fundamental knowledge in how to approach programming, problem solving, software design, professional-grade development and testing, and software engineering and life-cycle management.

As a result, there is a tremendous opportunity for educators who provide software development curriculum that prepares students for a long future as a software career professional.

To help higher educators meet that opportunity, iCarnegie operates through a partnership approach that we refer to as "The Power of Three:"

1. Carnegie Mellon University is one of the world's leading institutions in computer science, research, and software engineering education. As a way to extend the University's expertise beyond traditional constraints, Carnegie Mellon established and then spun off iCarnegie as the means to make key components of its software development training accessible to larger student and faculty populations.

2. iCarnegie is now an independent company that continues to work with Carnegie Mellon faculty to develop and maintain exceptional curriculum and professional IT skills certifications in Computer Programming and Software Systems Development. The curriculum is delivered by licensed education partners, which receive additional support services from iCarnegie in the areas of rapid faculty preparation, ongoing instructor support and mentoring, data analysis, program management, and marketing -- to help ensure a successful implementation of the program.

3. Higher education and training institutions partner with iCarnegie to provide their students with Carnegie Mellon-powered, leading education in software development. As a result, those licensed educators gain a significant competitive advantage and become an excellent resource for producing top-trained software programming and engineering professionals who are very attractive to today's demanding employers.

Quick Background:
iCarnegie originated in 1998 as a Carnegie Mellon nonprofit subsidiary, Carnegie Technology Education, founded by then-Carnegie Mellon faculty members Dr. Allan Fisher and Dr. Phil Miller. In 2002, the company became iCarnegie, Inc., an independent, privately owned company that could effectively bring leading curriculum programs to individuals worldwide, through a network of licensed education and training institutions. To date, iCarnegie and its partners have delivered more than 65,000 course enrollments and nearly 1,000 professional iCarnegie certifications to students in 18 countries.
