Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,
      the Father, the Almighty,
      maker of heaven and earth,
      of all this is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
      true God from true God
begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made,
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven:
By the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of he Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
He suffered, died, and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of Life,
      who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Tantum Ergo

Down in adoration falling,
Lo! the sacred Host we hail;
Lo!o'er ancient forms departing,
Newer rites of grace prevail
Faith for all defects supplying where the feeble senses fail.

To the everlasting Father,
And the Son who reigns on high,
With the Spirit blest proceeding forth from each eternally,
Be salvation, honor blessing,
Might and endless majesty.

Tantum ergo Sacramentum
Veneremur cernui:
Et antiquum documentum
Novo cedat ritui:
Praestet fides supplementum
Sensuum defectui.

Genitori, Genitoque
Laus et jubilato. Salus, honor, virtus quoque
Sit et benedictio:
Procedenti ab utroque
Compar sit laudatio.

Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
That never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection,
Implored your help,
Or sought your intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto you,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To you I come,
Before you I stand,
Sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word incarnate,
Despise not my petitions,
But in your mercy hear and answer me.

After a Death

Saints of God, come to (his, her) aid!
Come to meet (him, her), angels of the Lord!

May Christ, who called you, take you to himself;
May angels lead you to Abraham's side.

Give (him, her) eternal rest, O Lord,
And may your light shine on (him, her) for ever.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
      where there is hatred, let me sow love;
      where there is injury, pardon;
      where there is doubt, faith;
      where there is despair, hope;
      where there is darkness, light;
      where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
      to be consoled as to console,
      to be understood as to understand,
      to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
      it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Our Prayer to the Holy Spirit

A Prayer for Parish Planning

Spirit of Enlightenment,
we look to You
for the guidance that we seek
as we journey together
through the parish planning process.

The path we are to trod is unknown
and we fear that roadblocks
of our own making may lie ahead.

Help us to clear away
any stubbornness, any reluctance,
any selfishness on our part
that may interfere with the direction
that You wish us to go.

Provide us with the wisdom that we need
to be able to accept whatever it is
that You are asking of us
right here and right now.

Give us the confidence to travel
with open minds and with open hearts
so that in doing so
we may come to realize
that wherever the road may take us
it is where you want us to be.

We ask this through Jesus Christ
Our Lord. Amen
