Queer People of Color Coalition/QPOCC

QPOCC started out last fall, 2004, as a "Committee to Create a More Hospitable Climate for LGBT People of Color" on campus. We renamed ourselves, after a group--also named QPOC (Queer People of Color Council) at the University of California at San Diego. Our group includes students, faculty, staff, and allies of all colors. Our purpose is to act as a forum for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning people of color here on the New Brunswick campus. We discuss prospective programs, issues of importance to queer communities of color (i.e., Black, Latino, Asian, and other communities of color), and outreach to other cultural groups on campus. Contact Cheryl Clarke at 732-932-1711 or cclarke@rci.rutgers.edu, or drop by to see us at the Center for Social Justice Education and LGBT Communities at 3 Bartlett St. CAC if you want more information.
