"And (remember) when We took a covenant from the Children of Israel, (saying): Worship none but Allaah (Alone) and be dutiful and good to parents, and to kindred, and to orphans and Al- Masakin (the poor), and speak good to people [i.e, enjoin righteousness and forbid evil, and say the truth about Muhammad sal-Allaah 'alayhe wa sallam ], and perform As-Salaat (Iqaamat-as-Salaat), and give Zakaat, Then you slid back, except a few of you, while you are backsliders." [Al-Baqarah (2):83]

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:
The Prophet said, "Amongst the trees, there is a tree, the leaves of which do not fall and is like a Muslim. Tell me the name of that tree." Everybody started thinking about the trees of the desert areas. And I thought of the date-palm tree. The others then asked, "Please inform us what is that tree, O Allah's Apostle?"
