“Train stations” by Julia Milberger

“In 2005 I spent three productive months exploring the stations of suburban rail in Kolkata. My intention was to capture the moments and to transfer my own feelings. It was not important for me to be objective and to do mere documentation. I searched more for a live area with a special ambience. That’s why I chose some favorite stations on which I concentrated. Besides, I went many times by train for a long journey to connect one station to another.

The idea of this series came to me when I visited Park Circus rail station for the first time. This intense experience was leading me through the whole series. I got merged with the crowd and learnt to be invisible. This experience I carry with me for my future works.”

Julia Milberger was born in 1981 in Jaroslavl, Russia. In 1997 she moved to Germany. Currently she is a final year student of The Munich University of Applied Sciences where she has been studying Photo Design since 2003. Julia works with still image and video in both the analog and digital ways. She focusses on journalism, portrait and fashion photography. For her all of these forms complement with each other and generate collective experience of communication.
