Rule Radio was
designed with the artist in mind. We wanted to create a site
where musicians can feel at home and get more exposure than the
current options available. The current options of giving your
music away for free or hanging your hopes of someone
stumbling across your work in a huge database of music is just
not acceptable anymore. We are trying to change the randomness
of being “found” by allowing you to control your marketing and
distribution of your music. We are changing this by allowing you to pick your
best songs and place them in a radio rotation for you. While we
charge a $10.00 annual fee for rotation, we don’t censor
songs that meet the listing requirements. A lot of thought has
gone into the pricing structure to be fair to all parties. The
intent of the pricing structure is to encourage you to choose
your best songs for rotation and then upload the remainder of
your music for free in our non-rotation database. This frees the
“airwaves” up for other artists to have their music heard as
well as yours. We have also structured the rotation price on a
monthly cycle so that the music in rotation will stay
fresh and current. This way if your music is not providing enough downloads
to pay for itself, you can switch the song in rotation with
another one. If it is paying for itself, keep it in until you
decide to change it.
Since we are going
to offer customers the option of downloading your files in mp3
format or red book audio (full resolution CD format) we ask that
you upload your music in mp3 format and then send us a full
resolution CD (CD-R acceptable) with your music on it. This
does not have to be a manufactured CD but can be if you have
one. Additionally, we will be making compilation discs that we
will send to radio stations (specifically college and those who
cater to independent music) for them to play
on the air. The majority of these radio stations can only
use full resolution CD quality recordings. If you do not
provide a full resolution CD master, we cannot offer this
service to your fans or help spread your music to other venues.
Our pricing structure
is:
$0.55 commission paid to you for each download - Yes, this
does not seem like a lot but when credit card transactions take
the first $0.33 of each purchase there is $0.67 left. You
receive roughly 80% of the money. The $0.27 that we make goes
back into developing the site, paying for bandwidth and the
ghastly insurance bill.
$10.00 Annual Fee
for placing songs in
rotation

fee helps cover the cost of bandwidth and continuous development
costs not covered by the profit of sales.
$10.00 for Rule Radio to convert content from a full resolution CD to MP3 format and uploaded into the database -
You must have an account set up and agree to our
terms and conditions prior to this service being
available. Just mail us your CD and we will convert
the music to MP3 and put them on our site.
