A Brief History
In the mid-1980's, Regeneration Ministries was developed by the Seventh-day Adventist Church through the leadership and direction of Hal Gates, an attorney and recovering alcoholic. It’s purpose is to help those who recognize their need for recovery from any and all addictions through Jesus Christ, the Highest Power. Hal has served the Seventh-day Adventist Church since the mid-1980’s as a pastor, and now as Health Ministries and Community Services Director in the Washington Conference. He also works with the World Church and the North American Division Health Ministries Departments. He has presented this proven program of recovery in many settings all over the world.
Regeneration is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope in order to solve their common problems, by the grace of God, and to help others to recover from addictions and the dysfunctions connected with them.
- The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop compulsive-addictive behavior.
- There are no dues or fees for Regeneration membership. We are self-supporting through our own contributions.
- Regeneration is a Christ-centered 12-step program that believes Jesus Christ is the Highest Power.
- Our primary purpose is recovery from compulsive-addictive behavior, its dysfunction, and to help others seek recovery.
- In Regeneration we follow the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous.
