Sundance Has ‘Manure’

31 December 2008 1:02 AM, PST | From MovieBlog.Ugo.com | See recent Ugo MovieBlog news

The Polish Brothers, who made their debut with the great Twins Falls Idaho and later devolved to The Astronaut Farmer, have a new film set to make its premiere at Sundance.  Michael and Mark Polish return with “Manure,” starring Téa Leoni, Billy Bob Thornton, Kyle MacLachlan in a comic tale centered on manure salesmen in the early 1960s. The plot synopsis follows: “When a tragic accident ends the life of Mr. Rose, the genius behind Rose’s Manure Company, the livelihood of its loyal fleet of salesmen threatens to go, as they say, into the toilet. Enter estranged daughter Rosemary (Leoni), a high-class- cosmetics salesgirl, who steps in to take control. She is not sure she has a nose for the family business, but she is determined to make foul into profit. Little does she know that a ruthless, slick-talking fertilizer rep is plotting a takeover. Whether she likes it or not,

Trailer - The Polish Brothers' 'Manure'

27 December 2008 6:04 AM, PST | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

On a couple of occasions, I've had a chance to sit down with twin filmmakers Mark and Michael Polish, better known to us all as The Coen Brothers.

What? No. Sorry - they're obviously the Polish Brothers. You might know them by their unbelievably unique films more than their own name. There's Twin Falls, Idaho, The Astronaut Farmer, and the extremely rich Northfork, which was probably a little too left afield.

The brothers are back, taking their show to Sundance in a couple of weeks with a new comedy entitled Manure. Guess what it's about? Yep.

The story is pretty simple to follow: A widow ( Tea Leoni) inherits her husbands successful manure company and has to fight off a hostile takeover by a rival in the fertilizer business ( Kyle MacLachlan). Billy Bob Thornton co-stars, playing the top manure salesman in the company. There's a proud honor, huh?

Check out the trailer for the Sundance-bound Manure,

First Images from Manure – Playing at Sundance 2009 -- Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Téa Leoni and Kyle MacLachlan in a Michael Polish film

25 December 2008 | From Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news

With the Sundance Film Festival taking place next month, I’ve been sent a ton of images from all the film’s playing. While I’d love to post all of them tonight, since I have images from 50 different films, it’s just not possible. So what I’ve done is taken a few of the new images I’ve been sent and I’m posting them as separate articles tonight. In the coming days and weeks you can expect a lot more image articles. Also, since not much info is known about the movies as no one has seen them yet, I’m using the synopsis’ that are on the official Sundance website. Up now is “Manure” and it’s from the Polish Brothers. According to the info I was given, it's a comedy about manure salesmen in 1960s America. And just looking over these first images, it’s

2009 Sundance Film Fest Announces Non-Competition Films!

4 December 2008 1:20 PM, PST | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

Yesterday we shared with you the competition slate for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, which, depending on the paper you read, was full of the dark and disturbing or the sad and melodramatic. Good to know we'll be smiling in the cold mountains of Utah come January. Today, the Sundance Institute has announced their non-competition films; this includes the Premieres section, which is usually full of studio flicks -- stuff that's set to debut in theaters the following month or so, and films that feature big stars; the big guns. Then we have the Spectrum section (with 16 dramatic films and seven docs), the Midnight section (eight films), and the Frontier section (six films).

Among the ones that stand out to me at first glance are:

I Love You Philip Morris (Premiere), with Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor playing prison lovers. Adventureland - The director of Superbad follows that flick up with

Duchovny's Tennis Coach To Blame For Leoni Split?

19 October 2008 7:04 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

David Duchovny's female tennis coach has sparked rumours her friendship with the actor was the cause for his split from wife Tea Leoni.

News of Duchovny and Leoni's split hit the headlines on Wednesday just days after the X-Files star checked out of an Arizona rehab centre, where he had been seeking help for sex addiction.

Leoni's co-star on upcoming film Manure, Billy Bob Thornton, was recently forced to dismiss talk of a romance between the two when the actress described him as "maybe my new favourite person in the world".

But now 48-year-old Duchovny's blonde coach Edit Pakay, 28, has sent gossips into a spin - after she failed to deny that she was having an affair with the star.

She tells Britain's The Mail on Sunday, "We have a very, very close friendship. I don't want to be the third person in the marriage but I know it can be seen that way.

"David and I are very close friends and we still play tennis together. He's an excellent player. He likes physically strong, fit women... He is a wonderful man. He's a very intelligent, very kind and good man.

"I don't want to say anything that might hurt David. I am not going to deny it (the affair claims). I don't know what our relationship means to him."

She adds, "I wasn't instantly attracted to him. What is great about David is his intelligence and kindness. He is the sort of person you get to like more the more you know him."

David Duchovny allegedly split from wife Téa Leoni after seeing an explicit text message from Billy Bob Thornton. The couple confirmed their separation this week, with rumours since emerging that Leoni had been seeing her Manure co-star Thornton. According to the Daily Mail, the marriage's collapse was down to Duchovny discovering messages from Thornton on his wife's phone and not his sex addiction. (more)
