A new mission for Ellery
Queen Fans!

write to Columbia House's
re-tv video library

Recently, our site undertook a mission — to organize a letter writing campaign to get TVLand to start showing all 22 episodes of the series. Previously, they were showing only certain episodes over and over, and EQ was not given a steady place on the TVLand schedule. Our campaign was a Great Success! For this, we thank you. The response was amazing! Hundreds of you wrote in to request all the episodes. As of now, all series episodes are being shown on TVLand. A big thank you to YOU and to them!

We have to face the fact that TVLand's showings are now as much as we can hope for from a commercial network. But they are still the cut versions — they lack as much as 12 minutes per episode including Write to Columbia House the clever narrated openings, and full opening and closing credits. So, what's the answer? Now we have a new mission:
We want to see Ellery Queen on video! We're asking our visitors, the loyal viewers and fans of the show to help us once again. Many of you are already aware that Columbia House has a Classic TV Library division called
re-tv. They offer everything from Comedy ("Bewitched", "Gilligan's Island", "The Monkees", etc.) to Drama and Mysteries ("Columbo", "Perry Mason", and "Murder She Wrote") — the category where we think "Ellery Queen" belongs!

Remember to ask them to include the pilot; "Too Many Suspects" !

So, what can we do?

Just like we did with TVLand, we can write them! If they hear from enough of us, they'll see there are a lot of interested Ellery Queen fans! Now, here's how to do that:

E-Mail Them!

The effect of many, many fans sending them e-mail will get their attention. And we learned from the last campaign that for most of us web-junkies, it's the easiest way to go. Once again, their e-mail address is: vl_customer_service@columbiahouse.com.
Or, if you like, you can...

Give them a call:

Their Video Library Customer Service Number is:
1-800-457-0866

Send them a letter:

Here's the Address:

Columbia House
Customer Service Department
Attn: Video Library/Re-TV Department
1400 North Fruitridge Avenue
Terre Haute, IN 47811

Submit a Comment or Fill out their Survey:

They have a survey online to get visitors' preferences for things like site features and new video releases. You can let them know there that you're interested in seeing Ellery Queen become a part of their re-tv library. You can get to their survey page by following this link: http://www.columbiahouse.com/vl/cgis/ — then click on "Survey" in the left menu-bar.

You can post a comment in their Bulletin Board (Message Area), by going to: http://www.columbiahouse.com/repl/ch/tmpls/board/intro.html and clicking on "Bulletin Board".

And what do we say?

First, remember to make it clear that the series you are interested in is:
Ellery Queen (Sometimes known in syndication as "The Adventures of Ellery Queen") — Starring Jim Hutton and David Wayne; 1975. This information is important because there were numerous other television and movie adaptations of EQ and it's best to make clear which series we are referring to!   :)

As with our letters we wrote so successfully to TVLand, remember to be polite. Remember to be articulate. Mention how important it is for the fans to be able to own these priceless episodes in an uncut form. Comment that you have every confidence that they would do a high quality job with them. And be sure to request that the video series be kicked off with the pilot ("Too Many Suspects".) Personalize your mail to truly state your own views on this and say what you like — the most important thing is to write!

Let your voice be heard!

It would surely be helpful to us to gauge our efforts if all of you who will be willing to participate in our campaign will send us a quick feedback note to let us know you've written to Columbia House. Please let us hear from you! eq@lnsdesignandmarketing.com
