Susan's hopes are raised when she receives a beautiful bunch of flowers with a note from Karl, saying that he has made a big mistake.
Jackie Woodburne, who plays Susan explained how her onscreen character felt when she received the bouquet.
"When the flowers arrive she thinks that they're from Karl," Jackie explained. "She's still at the stage where she's hopeful that everything can return to normal, so she sees it as a really, really positive sign."
However, viewers will know that the flowers were actually sent by Summer's friend Lisa as a cruel joke. An unwitting Susan decides to go around to Karl's place with the flowers, hoping to reconcile with him.
Summer and Lyn do their best to stop Susan in time, but they are too late. Susan arrives at Karl's flat to find him canoodling on the couch with Izzy Hoyland.
When asked how Susan feels when she sees Karl and Izzy, she answered,
"Sick. She feels absolutely sick. The wind in completely knocked out of her. She's devastated."
Susan confronts the pair and blows her top at Karl, accusing him of trying to woo both Susan and Izzy. It's not until the next morning that Summer tells Susan the truth.
According to Jackie, Susan is mortified by the whole sorry situation.
"She is just so embarrassed," said Jackie. "Having seen him and Isabelle together, she was very upset and furious at him, because she felt that he was playing one off against the other and trying to have both of them. When, she finds out that Lisa is behind the joke, she's very embarrassed and does go to Karl to try to apologise, but they get on each other's nerves once again."
Poor Susan just can't seem to cop a trick. Maybe one day soon she will have a love interest of her own to keep her busy.
