Hong Kong SARS Deaths Hopefully Levelling Off (Diaries)

By Baldrson
Tue Apr 29th, 2003 at 12:16:23 PM EST

The doubling rate of new SARS deaths in Hong Kong has, in the last week's figures, decreased for the first time. This is consistent with SARS death rates leveling off at between 40 to 50 deaths per week. An even more optimistic (and probably unrealistically optimistic) model, that is about as good a fit to the data, is that the rate of new SARS deaths in Hong Kong will fall back close to zero within the next month or two. We'll see if the trend holds for another week but at present the relentless weekly doubling in SARS deaths that had taken hold of Hong Kong appears to be dissipating.

Jewish Involvement in Shaping American Immigration Policy, 1881-1965 (Diaries)

Jewish Involvement in Shaping American Immigration Policy, 1881-1965: A Historical Review

ABSTRACT
This paper discusses Jewish involvement in shaping United States immigration policy. In addition to a periodic interest in fostering the immigration of co-religionists as a result of anti-Semitic movements, Jews have an interest in opposing the establishment of ethnically and culturally homogeneous societies in which they reside as minorities. Jews have been at the forefront in supporting movements aimed at altering the ethnic status quo in the United States in favor of immigration of non-European peoples. These activities have involved leadership in Congress, organizing and funding anti-restrictionist groups composed of Jews and gentiles, and originating intellectual movements opposed to evolutionary and biological perspectives in the social sciences.

Rusty's Serious Lack of Empathy For Real People (Diaries)

By Baldrson
Sat Apr 26th, 2003 at 01:10:48 PM EST

Rusty Foster is the founder of Kuro5hin.org. He lives on an island in Maine with his wife and too many cats.

However Rusty wrote: Obviously you're excited about the prospect of a worldwide epidemic, cause it would let you finally use all that lovely doomsday gear in the basement, or something.

In point of fact, I haven't stashed away "all that lovely doomsday gear in the basement or something" but I sure as hell shouldn't be harrassed by someone living on an island off the coast of Maine if I had.

Rusty needs a bit more empathy for people who have lived in virtual warzones of "diversity" in southern California for most of their adult life -- and visited Zimbabwe during the ethnic cleansings there that are a harbinger of things to come in the United States as demographics go the way folks like he think they should.

Maybe he should move to Zimbabwe and join Zanu PF to help stop Mugabe or something.

Low H-1B Salaries -> Probable SARS (Diaries)

Low H-1B Salaries Near Top SARS Correlate Under CDC's New Case Definition

For the continental United States, state-wide low H-1B salaries (an indicator that fraudulent use of the H-1B statute is taking place on a massive scale) is highly predictive of the Center's for Disease Control's new case definition of "probable" SARS cases.

The Price of "Diversity" (Diaries)

By Baldrson
Sun Apr 20th, 2003 at 11:05:30 AM EST

Afer several nurses were infected with SARS despite being covered from head to toe in protective gear Dr. Mary Vearncombe, the hospital's head of infection, prevention and control, said:

"I have some level of optimism that we can contain it in Toronto," she told reporters. "I have no optimism that we can contain it in developing areas of the world like mainland China so we will continue to import cases and we're going to have to remain absolutely vigilant."
It's good to know its all for a good cause.

BTW: I have several cans of paint and they're each a single color. This is clearly an unacceptable situation. Diversity demands that I mix them all together.

WHO Says China SARS Cases Could Be Much Higher (Diaries)

By Baldrson
Wed Apr 16th, 2003 at 11:33:23 AM EST

BEIJING (Reuters) reports that:

The World Health Organization said China, epicenter of a flu-like virus that has killed about 160 people worldwide, had failed to report all its cases and the capital, Beijing, could have five times the official number.

Over a billion people live in China and it has almost certainly spread throughout the nation.

Sen. Graham Urges Possible Missile Attack on Syria

Yes, this is the same Sen. Graham who opposed Operation Iraqi Freedom.

After a speech Saturday to Miami's Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, Graham said that U.S. officials "ought to consider launching cruise missiles or another form of warfare on terrorist camps in Syria after giving Syria time to dismantle the camps," reported the Miami Herald.

US Dealers Organized Iraq Museum Looting? (Diaries)

By Baldrson
Tue Apr 15th, 2003 at 11:04:26 AM EST

Liam McDougall of the Sunday Herald reports that:

It has emerged that a coalition of antiquities collectors and arts lawyers, calling itself the American Council for Cultural Policy (ACCP), met with US defence and state department officials prior to the start of military action to offer its assistance in preserving the country's invaluable archaeological collections.

The group is known to consist of a number of influential dealers who favour a relaxation of Iraq's tight restrictions on the ownership and export of antiquities. Its treasurer, William Pearlstein, has described Iraq's laws as 'retentionist' and has said he would support a post-war government that would make it easier to have antiquities dispersed to the US.
