Tajikistan have won only their second gold of Doha 2006 and it came in the boxing ring.

Djakhon Kurbanov personified determination as he walloped Song Hak Sung in the light heavyweight division with a high quality performance which saw him win 30-15.

The 20 year-old was 6-2 up after the first round and increased his lead yet further in the second with some combinations to which the Korean had little answer. By the third round it was clear to everyone, including the fighters, who would claim gold.

Song clung in there to the end,  but Kurbanov was a class apart. At one point Kurbanov got warned by the referee for not fighting and wasting time, Song looked secretly quite pleased about it.

Bronze went to Nabah Hzam of Qatar and Mehdi Ghorbani of IR Iran.
