An immaculate performance from Bakhyt Sarsekbayev enabled him to pummel Angkhan Chomphuphuang of Thailand in the welterweight 69kg division final as the Asian Champion claimed the Asian Games crown.
The fight was stopped in the second round with the Kazakh 28-8 ahead and in sizzling form.
The 25 year old champion emerged from the dressing room wrapped up warm and wearing a hood, but he exploded into action in the first round catching Chomphuphuang with a crippling left-hander from which the Thai never really recovered.
It was a well thought-out performance full of jabs and good footwork as another of Wednesday’s finals took on a lopsided look.
The enthusiastic Thai cheerleading squad which have been one of the most colourful and enchanting sights at the boxing this week were left banging their drums in frustration as a second Thai boxer ended up with silver on Wednesday 13 December.
Silamu Hanati of China and IR Iran’s Mohammad Sattarpour both picked up bronze after losing in the semifinals.
