Baseball
Braves' ace throws seven shutout innings to earn 200th victory while Glavine remains five away from 300.
Football
"Whoo!" Phillippi Sparks said. "Whoo!"
Basketball
The energy (and volume) of youth was evident in the stands, where a "School Day" crowd generated a din far beyond its numbers yesterday at Madison Square Garden.
Hockey
If every year could be like 1994, Brian Leetch might have
been happy to return to the Rangers to thrill the Madison Square Garden crowd
once more with his end-to-end rushes. But years of struggle that fell short of
playoff expectations, a bitter trade to Toronto, one last season with Boston
and a year off from hockey finally took their toll.
College
This hasn't been a banner year for Stony Brook athletics. No teams have advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Last call comes with the traditionally dependable Seawolves baseball team, which is seeded second in the America Tournament and will play third seed Albany Thursday at 7:30 at Farmingdale State.
High School Sports
The Braves built and lost a five-goal lead before rallying with six goals in the third period in a 12-7 victory in Nassau Class A boys lacrosse semifinals.
Golf
