A slick OAV for fans of the Super Robot Wars franchise and of mecha mayhem in general. Don't expect a lot of replay value, but it can be darned fun on the first run-through.

It may not be the best or most entertaining volume of NHK, but it deepens the story and makes the characters even more dysfunctional and twisted than they already are.

Gantz DVD Perfect Score Collection
If you missed this orgy of extreme graphic violence, foul language, and explicit content the first two times around, and appreciate lots of gore and nudity, then this is your “perfect” opportunity.

Step Up Love Story 1 Sub.DVD
If you want a simple, sexy, surprisingly sweet bit of fun that will not strain your brain, and you like generous amounts of highly explicit fan service, then the first half of this 2002 OVA series may be worth a look.

Suzuka DVD 5
This volume is all about healing emotional wounds, which is perfect timing for the obligatory return of the status quo. Another volume of strangely mixed emotional honesty and dippy plotting.

Psycho Busters GN 1
Can Psycho Busters be enjoyed? Certainly, as long as you're willing to switch off the B.S. detector and accept that this story is going to plow through a lot of psychic-superpower-adventure formula.

Air DVD 3
Watching the final volume (of the regular story) can be a powerfully cathartic experience, one which dims not at all on repeat viewings. It won't work for everyone but does place the title amongst the saddest anime series ever made.

The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye DVD 3
A good addition to the cast and some solid action make it pretty easy to forgive the show's occasional dips into ye olde barrel of sci-fi clichés. Except for the child villain. It takes a lot to forgive one of those.

Nodame Cantabile GN 11
While it's true that most of these characters have talents we could never hope to attain, this volume is decidedly down-to-earth as it shows that they experience ups and downs just like the rest of us.

Peach Girl: Sae's Story GN 2
The reverse side of Peach Girl, with a scheming villainess in the lead role and a fresh set of characters, offers a unique view of the classic love polygon.
