Records    

Army Personnel Centre

The Army Personnel Centre can assist in tracing soldiers either still serving or those who have discharged in the last 5 to 6 years (or later if they are still on the Army Reserve List).

 

Army Records Office

The Army Personnel Centre is the authority for all enquiries concerning the records of ex-servicemen. Records date from 1914 and go up to 1992, after which records are held by individual units.

     

Commonwealth War Graves Commission

Under the Royal Charter of 1917, the Commission is tasked with maintaining records of all those who died whilst serving with Commonwealth forces during the First and Second World Wars.

 

Army Medals Office

For all questions concerning the entitlement to current campaign medals and replacement of medals for entitled personnel.

     

Ministry of Defence Public Enquiries Office

All general enquiries concerning the Ministry of Defence should be directed through this office.

Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading charity providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.

 

The Council of Reserve Forces' and  Cadets' Associations' (RFCAs).

The Council of RFCAs coordinates the work of 13 regional RFCAs who are responsible for the estate management, recruit marking, employer support and welfare of the Territorial Army and the administration and estate management of the Army Cadet Force and the Combined Cadet Force (Army) It can also answer TA and Cadet related questions.

     

Military Heraldry Society

This society is a gathering of "collections of cloth formation signs (shoulder sleeve insignia, shoulder titles, regimental and unit flashes and similar items".

 

Military Historical Society

This society encourage the study of the history, uniforms, insignia, etc of the armed forces of the countries of the Commonwealth.
