Australia's Open Garden Scheme
Australia's Open Garden Scheme is taking a summer break over December and part of January. The public openings will resume on the weekend of the 19th and 20th of January, 2008.

The Open Garden Scheme was launched in Victoria in 1987 and has gone from strength to strength in the years since. Here's a short - dare we say "potted" - history of the Scheme since its inception.

Along with the gardens open as part of the Scheme, there are other gardens which are open all year round. Take a look here.

Saturday Schedule

On In Melbourne

We cross to the Weather Bureau immediately after the 6:00am news for a full update from the Senior Forecaster. Then, we find out what's happening around the city. It's all about helping you to plan the best possible weekend for you and your family.

Gone Fishin'
Paul Worsteling, Alistair Purvey and Colin Wilkinson will take it in turns, week about, to give us the good oil on Victoria's best ocean, bay and river fishing spots. Join one of them each Saturday morning from about 6:20am.

Fresh Today
If you are a person who starts planning the day's meals as soon as you wake up then we have the juice for you. It's important to eat to season, so we will get the market lowdown straight from the sellers to you. All things fish, fruit, vegetables and flowers, and get the hot tips on what's in, what's on the way out, what's cheap, and what's a treat. If you are wondering why hass avocados are taking forever to ripen, or what is the finest smelling table flower, then we will cover it. It is - after all - the weekend, and people are always looking forward to putting on a good spread for a lunch gathering or dinner party. So this information will be vital to get you inspired, prepared and eating.

Fitness and Physical Wellbeing
7:10am-7:45am
Dr. Peter Brukner, Associate Professor in Sports Medicine at the University of Melbourne, will alternate with other experts to answer your fitness questions whether you're an experienced marathon runner, recovering from an injury, trying to lose weight or embarking on your first-ever fitness program.

ABC News and Saturday AM
The most comprehensive wrap of news and current affairs you'll hear all weekend. Our extended bulletin from the Melbourne Newsroom starts at 7:45am, and is followed at 8:00am by Saturday AM.

Investment and Real Estate
From 8:30am Financial Planner Sarah Robinson, Property Consultant Monique Wakelin and Financial Advisor Dr. Doug Turek are in the chair on alternate weeks to help you make informed investment decisions.

Weather check
We cross to the Bureau of Meteorology at 9:05am for the Senior Forecaster's Statewide forecast.

Do-it-yourself Building and Renovation
Builder-designer David Norman joins us fortnightly at 9:10am alternating with a diverse range of specialists from plumbers to noise experts. Whether you are trying to remove old tiles from a bathroom floor or contemplating a more ambitious project, this is the segment for you.

Parenting
We've all been exposed to parenting in one form or another - after all, we've all had parents. On alternate Saturday fortnights, Michael Grose, Director of Parenting Ideas - and Dr Rob Moodie - will take your calls, answer your questions, and discuss the trials and tribulations of parenting. Join us every second Saturday from 9:10am.

Gardening
Our experts Carolyn Blackman and Andrew Laidlaw alternate to help green your thumb. Join them from 9:45am every Saturday to get the best out of your home's greatest asset.

Pet care and animal welfare
