The War deals with a damaged Vietnam Vet who loves his family more than anything in the world. Because of the violence he saw in the War, he is a militant pacifist. Yet his young son is a tough kid who won't tolerate disrepect in any form and will fight to prove it, a fact his father abhors. The situation begins to spiral out of control after an idyllic first few minutes. Best Film of 1994 in my opinion. Elijhah Wood: Best Actor. It's a shame Mr. Costner, who lives in my ex town of Santa Barbara, is too aloof to be nice to his fellow citizens, but he does a fine job of portraying the Father.
