Entrepreneur Of The Year 2004 Finalists: Moetaryanto founded his first company, PT Petrolog Indah, in 1974 when he saw an opportunity for an Indonesian company to provide logistics services to the upstream oil and gas sector, a field which was previously dominated by foreign companies.

Based on his experience and good relationships, he concluded an agreement with the French firm Peschaud, which allowed him to lease and eventually purchase the necessary equipment to develop his own business.

His second company, PT Petrolog Multi Usaha Mandiri, was established in 1985 when he saw the opportunity for a trading company to import parts, materials, and equipments, with a focus once again on the oil and gas industry. In 1996, Moetaryanto went global as Petrolog Indah spun off its freight-forwarding business to form a joint venture with German firm Schenker. Through the association with Schenker, new spin-off company PT Schenker Petrolog Utama now handles freight from around the globe.

Currently, Petrolog Multi Usaha Mandiri, Schenker Petrolog Utama, and Petrolog Indah form the Petrolog Group, the leading provider of logistics support and materials for the oil and gas industry in Indonesia.
