I did not need anyone to tell me how I looked or felt to realize that I needed to do something to improve my body. Although I would look at myself in the mirror the changes occurred gradually, so I wasn’t actually shocked with the results. The only thing that sparked the shock was when I went through photos that were about a year old. I asked myself, “How did I let myself go!” So, I decided to make changes beginning with a fitness program that included weight management, as well.

I had to work an exercise routine into my already hectic schedule. I invested in affordable, small pieces of equipment that would help me maximize my workouts. For instance, I invested in an exercise ball, resistance bands and small weights. I used my body weight as a tool as well. I woke up half an hour earlier than normal and went straight to my workout area. Of course, I already did some research on good exercises so that I can fully experience the benefits. Losing 15 pounds was my goal, but it was more important for me to lose inches than actual weight.  I’ve found the hCG diet instrumental in losing weight that seemed to be so stubborn before.  I attribute finding a solid program from www.hcgonlinebuy.com to be honest.

We all know that muscle weighs more than fat, so if I was turning fat into muscle, I might not see those weight loss goals on the scale, but instead I would see the difference through the clothing size and a tape measure. Aside from exercising, I turned to a healthier diet, such as by including a healthy breakfast that did not even require a sit-down meal. Instead, I enjoyed smoothies that were filled with all the nutrients the body needs. As they were loaded with plenty of fiber, fruits and such, I would not go hungry and have to reach for muffins or other unhealthy snacks at work. At the same time, I chose to pack a few veggies to eat in between meals throughout the day. This helped me to cut down on my daily caloric intake, which in turn helped me to lose some inches, and I became healthier, and developed a body that I am very proud of.

The basics of living healthy are to make the right food choices and to be physically active.  Being sedentary allows your body to accumulate excess fats and become weak.  Yet, when it comes to healthy living we almost always forget about our emotional and mental health.  It is sad that some people would normally just neglect these because we only assume that everything is fine with the body as long as the physique looks good.  However, a lot of people are suffering from emotional and mental breakdown because of the tons of stress we get from work and from our finances.  There is always a factor at home and in the office that would trigger stress.

Just like any living species, our bodies have its own thresholds especially our mental and emotional health.  Living healthy is not just always about keeping a balanced diet or sculpting the physique to stay fit.  The goal of living a healthy lifestyle is to take on a holistic approach of improving our immune system, our mental, spiritual, and emotional aspects, and most especially our physical health.  The body is composed of different systems that are interconnected.  Thus, neglecting one system could result to diseases and ailments.  So when the mind is not doing well, the other body systems will eventually get affected and gradually deteriorate or vice versa.  Such as when a person is not getting proper nutrition, there is a greater probability that his mental health will deteriorate.

Proper nourishment of the body has a great impact to our mental, physical, and emotional health.  Living healthy should always include sessions of distressing the body and keeping it fatigue free.  It is very helpful to also live in an environment that has less clutter.  Choose to keep your home orderly and let natural light and fresh air to come in.  It is also essential to enjoy a nice full body massage every now and then to relieve the body from stress and physical wear.  Always find time to pamper yourself even once in a while to avoid building up pressure within your mind and body.  It is also best to let out your emotions by talking to a friend and spending time with them perhaps in a café or at the beach.

What I Think

29 Feb 2012

When it comes to getting healthy from eating nutritious foods, you want to make sure that you’re eating the right foods for your health. A lot of different foods provide different nutrition for different parts of the body. You can eat food low in cholesterol, high in fiber, and enriched with vitamins and minerals for the best health you have ever been in. Some of my favorite health foods are listed below.
Vegetables of all kinds provide the right nutrients to get through the day. Some of my favorites are peas, carrots, spinach, broccoli, and brussel sprouts. Each of these provide great vitamins and minerals, and you should have at least 3 to 4 servings per day.
I love fruit. Fruit can provide you with a quick, tasty snack throughout the day. I love strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and just about any type of melon. You can make smoothies out of them and have one for breakfast.  I’ve started taking a raspberry based supplement from www.raspberryketone1234.com, when I can’t get as much fruit as I’d like.

Meat is essential to your diet. If you eat enough meat during the day you can gain a lot of nutrients through it.
Grains are always a plus, and can actually boost your energy level in the morning. Grab a hot bowl of oatmeal and a piece of toast in the morning with your cup of coffee, and you will be full through the day until lunch time runs around. Oatmeal is definitely a brain food. Whole oats are the best.
Try to stay away from processed foods since they can provide your body with a lot of food and other unwanted nutrients that your body is not going to take as healthy. Processed foods have saturated fat, carbs, and hidden secrets.
No matter what is on your plate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner you still want to make sure you get your exercise as well.

Busy Life

29 Feb 2012

While I know it is important to incorporate fitness into my life, it’s not always easy to find the time to do so between work and family obligations. It was especially difficult to find the motivation to go to the gym once I got home after work. By the time, I made dinner and helped the kids with their homework, I just wanted to climb in my pajamas and hit the couch. However, my lumpy belly and spreading thighs were testimony that this wasn’t going to work for the long-term.

I finally decided that one of the reasons I found it so hard to get to the gym was that going nowhere endlessly on a treadmill or on an elliptical machine just didn’t appeal to me. So if I wanted to lose my jiggling flesh, it was important that I find something to shake up my fitness routine. What ended up finally working for me was to join a gym with a regular schedule of fitness classes that I enjoyed.

After finding a new gym that offered a variety of classes, I made it a point to try a number of different ones to see which ones I enjoyed and would fit into my lifestyle. I quickly learned that I didn’t enjoy “boot camp” style classes, where instructors barked out orders at me and seemed to be trying to torture me. Instead, I found that I enjoyed Vinyasa-style yoga classes, which offered just the right amount of strenuous exercise with lessons on having a positive attitude. I also enjoyed Zumba classes, which were fun and challenging.

After I discovered what types of classes I enjoyed, I put the dates and times on my calendar, just as I would any other important appointment. This small psychological trick worked on me, and I no longer blew off my time at the gym.
