Metallica forges North American tour
Metallica continues to rev its engines for its upcoming album cycle, with the metal icons rolling out plans for a full North American tour that will support "Death Magnetic," the group's first new studio set in five years.
"Now that 'Death Magnetic' is complete, we're ready to start a proper indoor arena tour of the States and Canada and we can't wait to visit all of our 'Talli-fans here," the group wrote in a message posted yesterday (8/10) at Metallica.com. "It really has been too long (hey, what's four years amongst friends?)."
The head-banging quartet will hit the North American tour trail in late October, and is currently poised to touch down in more than 30 cities through the end of January. Show-openers The Sword will appear on all dates, while Down , Lamb of God and Machine Head will rotate through the tour's second support slot. Details are included in the itinerary shown below.
On-sale dates and times have not yet been revealed, but all Met Club members and Platinum-level Mission: Metallica members will have first shot at tickets, according to the group's website.
As previously reported, Metallica has nailed down a Sept. 12 release date for "Death Magnetic," which follows 2003's "St. Anger." Like its predecessor, the new set will arrive in stores on a Friday instead of sticking with the traditional Tuesday release for albums issued in the US.
