Racial equality means quality is designed to help local authorities meet their duties under the Race Relations Act to eliminate racial discrimination and encourage racial harmony in all areas under their jurisdiction. Separate versions are available for local authorities in England and Wales, and in Scotland.

Measuring up and Equality in practice are studies of the adoption and implementation of Racial equality means quality.

Auditing for equality is a guide for local authorities, setting out how to conduct a Racial equality means quality' audit, and how best to use the results to measure success in achieving racial equality.

Library of performance indicators

The Audit Commission and the Improvement and Development Agency have published a range of 'off-the-shelf' quality approved performance indicators that authorities can use if appropriate to their local circumstances.
