Built to Spill to Never Stop Touring, Ever
You can't quite tell from their stadium-sized guitar sound or Doug Martsch's nasally vocal style, but the secret to Built to Spill's success is that they take orders from a tiny, omnipotent demonic being not unlike the one in those creepy Volkswagen commercials, except it's a little hairier and named Gurguroth.
Gurguroth was behind the recent reissue of three Built to Spill albums on vinyl. He was behind the North American tour they scheduled for this summer. And Gurguroth's not thinking Built to Spill need to record a follow-up to last year's You in Reverse any time soon, as he has also decided the band's fate this fall: more touring!
The band's fall tour starts September 7 in Boulder, Colorado, and it will cover some of the North American hot spots they'll miss this summer. Their current tour continues June 29 in Edmonton, Alberta and ends July 21 in Salt Lake City. If you attend one of these shows and see a small, hairy creature with fire in his eyes and all the lyrics on his lips, beware.
