Ethnicity profiles: East of England
Norwich has markedly fewer non-white residents than many of the major towns and cities in the East of England. According to the 2001 Census, less than 8,000 (6.6%) of Norwich's 122,000 residents are from ethnic groups other than White British
The largest ethnic minority group is Other White (3,200 people, or 2.6% of all residents). Its proportion of Mixed people is much lower than its near neighbour Norwich (1.1% versus 2.3%), possibly due in part to the city's almost insignificant Asian and black populations (just 1,000 and 400 people respectively).
