I thought I would post an Introduction of sorts and date it AHEAD so it is always the first post you read when coming to my Blog.
I updated this post July 6, 2009
So here goes:
I am a homeschooling working mom of 4 amazing children. DH is proudly serving in the Navy and will soon be joining the USS San Antonio. We currently live in Virginia and LOVE to explore all the awesome historical places around the state.
We started homeschooling in 2003 when we lived in Naples, Italy and named our school Casa Luce Homeschool which is Italian for Light House (or House Light if you want to be LITERAL).
For fun (and a little $) I teach Wilton Method Cake decorating at a local craft store. Last fall I became certified as a Red Heart Ambassador so hopefully I will be teaching crochet classes soon. While I am home I work online.
Our two oldest children have blogs as well casaluceprincess and casalucetomazo, they don't blog much but I am working on changing that. They have "published" their first books after attending a Writer's Funshop with an AWESOME fellow homeschool mom. I am hoping I can get them to share more as we continue the routine she helped us establish.
I have loads of interests and hobbies including: blogging & other computer stuff, sewing, photography (with real film and all), gardening, pottery (as in clay and a wheel not paint 'n go), crochet (can't knit a stitch), cake decorating, bread baking, frugal living (although I fell off the wagon a while back, we are climbing back on), scrap booking, stamping, card making, art history and more.
Although we have used Switched on Schoolhouse as the "backbone" of our schooling for the past several years we are shifting our focus off the computer this year and will be using Saxon Math and Sonlight. School starts August 10th! This year we will be teaching K, 7th and 8th, where does the time go?
We have also used Bob Jones (so disappointed that HomeSat is gone), Math U See and other curriculums, have questions? Just e-mail me!
I am re-doing this blog and moving things in from my other blogs. Soon you will see posts from my other Blog "The Battle is His." This blog contained information about Autisim and Asperger's Syndrome. A disorder which our oldest son was diagnosed with in the fall of 2007.
So this "New Creation" blog will focus on daily life, family news, advocacy for Autisim and Asperger's Syndrome, military and wounded warriors (show 'em some love HERE!), articles I find that encourage me, yummie recipes, funny stuff, company and product reviews and of course my unbridled opinions about world events.
A great BIG THANKS to Ally of Mission Field Designs for helping me pretty up this blog, she is AWESOME. If you need help with your blog go see her!
