Irish actress Saoirse Ronan has defended Peter Jackson for refusing to film the rape and murder of Saoirse's character in his adaptation of "The Lovely Bones." Fans of the Alice Sebold book have blasted Jackson and his co-producer wife Fran Walsh for leaving out the scene. Ronan - who plays the 14-year-old Susie Salmon - said she can't understand why anybody would want to see such horrific images. Bono to sing on George Clooney’s Haiti Telethon (IrishCentral)

Bono will throw his considerable weight behind George Clooney’s Haiti Telethon this Friday night when he performs on the show to help raise funds for the devastated country. Haiti has been left in ruins after a 7.0 earthquake hit the country last Tuesday, with thousands dead and the country in dire need of international aid. George Clooney has answered the call by spearheading Friday’s telethon, which he will co host with Haitian born singer Wyclef Jean.  The telethon will air live on all U.S. networks. Other stars expected to perform include Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Sting, while British actress Emily Blunt has committed to working the phone lines on the night.
