All programme-makers using the BBC Logo or Brand must comply with the Commercial Policy Guidelines
The BBC logo is a key expression of the BBC's visual identity, instantly recognised by audiences, business partners and competitors worldwide. The BBC logo is the copyright of the British Broadcasting Corporation and may only be reproduced when authorised. BBC is a trademark of the British Broadcasting Corporation.
The logos shown in these Branding Guidelines are shown only in order to illustrate how they should be used on BBC television programmes for Network, National or English Regional transmission and may not be used for any other purpose
The logo must only be used in ways that are appropriate and must not be altered in any circumstances.
Basic rules in order to use the BBC Logo:
The minimum space around the logo in all directions must be equal to one half the width of a single box from the logo.
- The BBC logo must always be reproduced from master artwork and never from a second generation copy. It should never be recreated
- The BBC logo must only be reproduced in black or white or corporate blue Pantone 2767 (RGB: R23/G12/B66). It can never be reproduced in any other colour
- The BBC logo must always be prominent and have maximum impact.
- When the BBC logo is placed on a background, that background image appears through the letters, so please ensure that you avoid complex backgrounds.
- When over a dark background colour or a dark photograph, the logo must be in white with the background visible in the letters, When placed on a light background or photograph, the logo is black. Corporate blue can be used over very pale backgrounds or on white.
- The logo must always be positioned horizontally.
- The relative size and position of all elements in each logo and copyright must remain constant
How NOT to use the BBC Logo:
- Do not reproduce the logo in an unauthorised colour
- Do not apply gradients or special effects (including 3D effects)
- Do not tint or add graduated tones
- Do not italicise the logo
- Do not distort, skew or bend the logo
- Do not use the logo as a repeat pattern
- Do not outline the logo
- Do not use the logo within plain text
- Do not attempt to reproduce the logo using computer systems
- Do not present the logo vertically or turn it on its side
