Re: Question #4

Men or women? =20

I guess I would have to qualify my answer. I am most comfortable around =
normal-acting, well-adjusted gay men, and least comfortable around =
gay-acting, maladjusted gay men. Women and straight men fall between =
those two.

Gay men who don't make a career of projecting themselves and their =
homosexuality are easiest for me to get along with, I can let my guard =
down and relax. I can relate to personal things, lovers and =
attractions, and feel OK about being near them. The more "typical" gay =
man is a creature of such self-absorption and viciousness that I feel on =
my guard, just waiting for the attacks, the lashing-out, the betrayal. =
I am very uncomfortable around gay men who act gay, especially if they =
are into some sort of fetish. They seem to feel that I have betrayed =
some cause because I don't act as gay as they do, and within a few =
minutes are putting me down for it. I am one who does not accept the =
misbehavior of that small percentage of gay men who act-out their =
gayness in public all the time, and saying so in any way has made me the =
target of such vicious attacks that I am nervous about them.

I am not at all uncomfortable around women, and can feel comfortable =
around them. The ones who know I am gay and accept it with equanimity =
are of course the ones I feel easiest around. I don't dislike women, =
and at times when things are going well in my life I am even a little =
attracted to them. I'm not 100% gay, and I can bed a woman and enjoy =
it, but I don't call myself bisexual because I could live without women =
but could never live without the intimacy of Asian men.

Straight men are OK to be around if they are reasonably bright. =
Rednecks and dullards I can't relate to on any level, and young-adult =
straight men are totally foreign to me, they make no sense to me at all.

Most of my friends are Asian men, both gay and straight.
