Barbara Wellbery Award

Barbara Wellbery, who died last year, was a partner in the law firm of
Morrison and Foerster.
Previously she had been at the US Department of
Commerce and undertook most of the work on the US side in negotiating the safe
harbor agreement with the EU.
Her colleagues in the data protection and
privacy world have tried to find a fitting memorial for someone counted as a
good friend. The memorial award is a prize essay competition, the closing date
