This image is a part of a series from a proposed book I have been developing from print and other collected materials about the urban environment.

This material and its content picks up on themes of the writing by my uncle, D'arcy Niland, author of The Shiralee and many other stories written during the 1950's & 60's. These stories are about the Australian City & Country environment, life style and the characters that inhabited these.

Other influences that contribute to my style include the 50's American witers William S Burroughs, Allan Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac. These writers of the 'beat generation' celebrated and practiced among other things image making, jazz, poetry and literature and drawing and collage.
