Sarigan lies midway along the arc of the Mariana Islands, located 37 km northeast from Anatahan and 64 km south from Guguan.
Sarigan (5 km²) measures 2.75 km in length with a width of around 1.2 km, tapering slightly towards the south. It emerges abruptly from the sea, climbing steeply to the truncated summit of its 538 m tall volcano — from which there have been no recorded eruptions.
