Ian Smith, the immensely popular actor who plays Harold Bishop, has revealed the true story of a revelation that changed his life.

Twelve years ago, Ian's mother (who was very ill), told Ian that he was adopted. Ian talked about it on the TV Show, 'Australian Story.'

"Some of the things that have happened you wouldn't put in a soap opera," he said.

"Drama is bigger than life, but sometimes life is bigger than drama."

Castmate Jackie Woodburne, who plays Susan, appeared on the show too, and Delta Goodrem (Nina Tucker) presented the programme.
