New campus for the Xbox biz - beer included

Xbox biz moves across campus - exciting bar and building details inside
Microsoft is reportedly constructing a new "upscale campus" for its Zune and videogames operations, complete with a bar.

Development on the West Campus will house the Entertainment and Devices Division, which is currently scattered across Microsoft's Redmond, Wash. home base, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

The four-building, 1.1 million square foot office complex will be snuggled up right next to videogame rival Nintendo of America's headquarters.

One of the more attention-grabbing features of the development is a bar with an occupancy of 76. It's not just about Xbox-ers' happy hour, however.

Cushman & Wakefield real estate broker Tom Bohman told the P-I, "It's all about environment and amenities and making things employee friendly." And it's about Microsoft becoming more appealing to top talent and aiding recruitment.

Buildings on the West Campus are expected to open over the course of the next two years across 42 acres.

Microsoft has committed to spending $1 billion over the next three years to make various expansions to its headquarters, including but not limited to the West Campus development, as recruitment remains steady.
