Got Rocked!

Well here’s another close-up shot of Albert Hammond, Jr. of the Strokes.
What an awesome article (in the February 2003 issue) about the Strokes New Year’s show! It’s nice to get a full effect of the Strokes concert in Las Vegas through the eyes of your writer, Rhey Lee. Being a huge fan of the Strokes, I was surprised yet excited to find it in KoreAm. I especially loved the up-close picture of Albert playing his guitar!

Great job, and keep up the good work!

First Aid

The Solis family - Darley, Tomás, Adrian and Betty (from left to right). Patriarch Tomás, who worked at Assi Market in L.A.'s Koreatown, is in need of a new kidney. (Photo by Eric Sueyoshi)

I read the “Going into Labor” article by Janet Kim in the February 2004 issue, and was moved by the condition that Tomás Solis and his family faces with his kidney failure. Do you happened to know where I could send a small donation for Tomás and his family toward helping with his medical bills?

My wife and I will continue to pray for Tomás and his family, and that God, through the grace of Jesus Christ, may bring healing to him and provide for his family through these difficult times.
Thanks and God bless!

CORRECTION

In the February 2004 issue, we incorrectly reported the California legislators who authored the resolution declaring Jan. 13 Korean American Day. Assemblymember Carol Liu introduced and authored the bill with members of the API Caucus, and Dario Frommer and Mark Ridley-Thomas were principal co-authors. Fabian Nunez did not co-author the resolution. The state Assembly passed House Resolution 38 on Jan. 12.
