F O S S . I N / 2 0 0 7
December 4th to 8th, 2007
National Science Symposium Centre
Indian Institute of Science
Bangalore, India.

FOSS.IN is one of the world's largest FOSS events, held annually in India. The event is highly focussed on FOSS development and contribution. Over the years, it has attracted thousands of participants, and the speaker roster reads like a "Who's Who" of FOSS contributors from across the world.

This website is your primary resource for information about the event. As we get closer to the event, you will find more and more information here.

The event is over, and we are now working on the event report, statistics and other related post-event related activities. Stay tuned. The best way to do so is by subscribing to the FOSS.IN RSS Feed or the Mailing List.

FOSS.IN/2007 is over

[Wed, 12 Dec 2007 10:03:44 +0530]
FOSS.IN/2007 is over, and what an event it was!

The tight focus on development and contribution ensured that everyone who attended went away with something new, and there was never a time when anyone didn't have something exciting to do.

Unlike previous years, we have had no complaints about shallow or boring talks - every talk was spot on, making this the most focussed FOSS.IN, ever!

Rave reviews from delegates, speakers and sponsors, blogs overflowing with happy tales of meeting people, with a huge rush of community bonding - this has exceeded our wildest expectations.

The speakers were all praise about the event and the audiences, and almost all international speakers have confirmed their presence for next year.

Project Days was termed an absolute success - the best idea of getting people involved we have ever had. All eight PDs report solid interest and participation from their audiences, and feel that they are going to see a lot of contribution from them.

And our systems also worked (almost) flawlessly. Slides for each talk were up within minutes after each talk (no more waiting for months before we get around to it). BoFs, schedule changes and notices appeared on the huge plasma screen almost instantly.

The Wireless LAN, after a few hiccups on day 1, functioned brilliantly, and the few bandwidth suckers who tried to inconvenience others were quickly tracked down and yanked. Everyone was full of praise for the network connectivity, with many calling it among the best they have ever experienced.

The closing ceremony, with Rusty's fantastic session, will not be forgotten by anyone so quickly.

Photos are appearing all over the internet, and more are being uploaded every hour.

What's left to do is to put together a report, paperwork, and solicit feedback from participants, to be collated and put up on this site.

And after that - on to FOSS.IN/2008!

The single biggest problem we are going to have is trying to better this year's event! :)

Online Registration closes Dec 3, 3pm

[Mon, 03 Dec 2007 08:54:59 +0530]
Online delegate registration closes at 3pm on Monday, December 3rd.

People who have registered online can check in and pay at the venue from 3pm to 6pm on the 3rd, and from 8:30am on any conference day.

As we have an unexpected large turnout this year, people may want to avail of the early venue registration and get their passes and stuff on Monday rather than braving the queues on Tuesday.
