SUGGS RETURNS FOR A SECOND SERIES OF DISAPPEARING LONDON

Disappearing London returns to ITV for a second series in January 2007. In these award-winning programmes Madness lead singer Suggs takes viewers on a journey through the capital’s vanishing history, and celebrates the endangered buildings, open spaces and unsung treasures which give the city its character and charm, but which may not be around for very much longer.

Each programme features a range of surprising stories - from a secret east end allotment and Churchill’s forgotten wartime hideaway, to the Victorian theatre hidden in a hospital and the 1930s garage hanging on in the heart of Bloomsbury. These hidden gems are every bit as important to the character and appeal of London as its major landmarks, but all too often we take them for granted, until it’s too late to save them from the threat of re-development or the wrecking ball.

Disappearing London gives viewers a chance to discover some of London’s best-kept secrets, before they disappear for ever. Along the way Suggs meets the men and women fighting to protect these places, and tracks down fabulous archive film which reveals how Londoners lived, worked and played in earlier times.
