Koine (“Everyday”) Greek . . .

A Great Discovery

Over a century ago in 1895 (that's 284 years after the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible had been translated), a great discovery was made.  The Bible and Greek scholar, Adolf Deissmann, accidently discovered that the original New Contract Writings (“New Testament”) were written in Koine (“Coin-A” or everyday) Greek.

For over a thousand years, up until 1895, the language of the Bible’s New Contract Writings (“New Testament”) was known as “Tired Greek,” “Bad Greek,” “Jewish Greek,” “Biblical Greek,” “New Testament Greek,” and “Holy Ghost language,” because it was different from Classical Greek.

Yes, it was in 1895, while this scholar of ancient Greek and the Bible was studying some recently discovered collections of ancient, nonliterary documents, that he suddenly recognized a great similarity between what he was reading there and what he was accustomed to reading in the Greek New Contract Writings!  The documents that this scholar was studying weren’t literary works, but rather many different types of personal letters, diaries, business letters, legal documents, love letters, horoscopes, magic formulas, etc.

The New Contract Writings (“New Testament”) portion of the Bible was written in the Greek language.  However, it wasn’t the Classical Greek of Aristotle; rather, we now know that it was written in Koine (“Coin-A” or everyday) Greek, which was the everyday language used by almost everyone during the First Century A.D. in conversation and commerce throughout the Roman Empire.

Yes, our Savior talked plainly to people, the way we would talk to one another. Therefore, plain, everyday English must be used to properly and accurately translate the everyday Koine Greek that the inspired writers used in producing the New Contract Writings (“New Testament”) portion of the Bible, instead of using the religious and theological terms that are found in most of the Bible translations used today, which distort the original meaningHey, it has been over a century now, so where are the literal, accurate, plain English translations of the Bible that we should have, considering this century-old, universally accepted, great discovery?

The translators of the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible were unaware of the differences between Koine Greek and Classical Greek.  The relevant manuscripts had not yet been discovered.  As late as 1886 Joseph H. Thayer could still list 767 distinctively “New Testament” words with no known parallels in any of the known ancient Greek documents.

But now, because of recent discoveries and research over the past 100 years, well over 99% of the words of the New Contract Writings (“New Testament”) portion of the Bible have been found in other ancient Greek documents.

Moreover, in 1611 the KJV translators of the Bible followed the syntax of Classical Greek.  However, we now know that the language of the New Contract Writings (“New Testament”) portion of the Bible corresponds syntactically to Koine Greek, because it is Koine Greek.  Plus, make no mistake – this makes a tremendous difference in how many words and phrases are translated.

So, for over a century now, scholars have known that the original New Contract Writings (“New Testament”) portion of the Bible wasn’t written in the Classical Greek of Aristotle like most of the other ancient Greek literature. There is absolutely no controversy about this any longer – scholars are in universal agreement that the original New Contract Writings (“New Testament”) portion of the Bible was written in everyday Koine Greek, the common language used by the people throughout the Roman Empire during the First Century A.D.  But, where are the literal, accurate, plain English translations of the Bible that reflect this century-old, universally accepted truth?

Yes, we now know that plain, everyday English must be used to accurately translate the everyday Greek that the inspired writers used in the Bible, instead of using the religious and ecclesiastical terms found so often in our present versions of the Bible, which distort the original meanings.

However, even though a whole century has passed since this universally accepted, great discovery, church leaders and Bible publishers still have had no interest in “upsetting their apple cart.”  They want to retain control, maintain status quo, and keep you in the dark about this great discovery. So, not until now, do we finally have a literal, accurate translation in true, everyday, plain English – the “Christian Bible”!

there are some who are disturbing you and wanting to distort the Good Message about the Anointed One.”  —  Gal. 1:7  (CB)

The Bible and Its Reference Guide

Back in 1991, when we first began publishing the Christian Bible and its Companion Reference Guide, the “experts” said that based on our printing costs, normal expenses, and shipping costs, that the Bible should be priced at $29.95 and its huge Companion Reference Guide at $38.30.  Well, we are now in the “Second Edition” of these books and, as you can guess, our costs and expenses have gone up since 1991 (shipping costs alone have gone up twice), but we really want you to have these two books, and we are a nonprofit concern staffed with volunteers (not employees), so we are continuing to price the Bible at only $20.00, and its Companion Reference Guide at just $25.00(We pray that this is what God wants us to do!)

But . . . order both of these books together now, and you get an additional $6.00 savings, so that this “Special Offer Duo” costs you only $39.00. That’s a total $29.25 savings from what those “experts” said we should be charging way back in 1991.

So, send us a check (or money order) for $20.00 (Bible), $25.00 (CRG), or $39.00 (Duo), along with your USA shipping address, and we will send out your books.  If your shipping address is outside of the USA, e-mail us that address to find out the additional shipping charge.

Money-back Guarantee

If you are not delighted with these books in every way, send them back in saleable condition within thirty days, and we will promptly refund every penny of your money,  no questions asked!

Sorry, but we don’t currently handle credit cards or “PayPal.”  But, of course, you’re right, when we do, the books will likely end up costing more.

Yes, we’ve priced these books too low, and are giving you too good of a deal – but we are trying to be good spiritual brothers and sisters.  We are trying to use “an ideal measure(giving you more than you would normally expect), in order to obey the following from the Bible:  “. . . an ideal measure ( [like grain that is] squeezed down, shaken together, and yet running over [the brim]) they will give to you in your lap; for that measure which you are using to measure others, it will be used as a measure for you in return!” – Luke 6:38 (CB).
