Mikal Trimm--world-famous poet, author, raconteur--exists only in his imagination.
But the real guy hangs out here.
Ah, progress--if you check the bad link and remove the "%20" characters, the link is fine.
Crap, not signed in, but it's me... |
Er, that's what I linked to, right?
(BTW, Wendy, it's a bad A&A; link--it leads to a "VANISHED!" error...this is from the front page, not from a bad link someone sent me.) |
and at abyssandapex.com! |
My flash story "Small Change" is now up at Abyss & Apex, for your reading pleasure. |
Justin--
No problem, and if the thing doesn't work for you, not a big deal as well. We'll come up with something, sooner or later! |
Congrats on the TOTU and Sword Review sales!
And no, just in case you're wondering, I haven't forgotten about the story you sent. I've just been running on auto-pilot for the last couple of weeks. Now that there's finally some light at the end of the calving tunnel AND I have the new computer up and running, maybe I can actually get something done! ;) |
And, while we're talkin' bout the devil, Dear Aby is back in bidness...
Keep those cards and letters comin' in! |
Pretty dang good, Mikal. |
Why yes, I've been in the mood for a good demon story lately.
And that was a good one. |
For those of you in a 'devilish' mood...
My story "Can You Say Hellelujah" is now up at RevSF. Enjoy...(?) |
Hey! Congrtulations on the Weird Tales story!
Speaking of collaborations, did you get that email from John O'Neill yesterday? |
Congrats on the sale!
Justin |
Mikal you jammy git!
Well done on another Postscripts sale. Somebody stop this man! :-) Lavie. |
Alan Freed Forever!!!
(Ask me later, Josh...) |
Keep rocking! |
Oh, and continuing the conversation Lavie and I were having--just sold another story to Postscripts as well... |
(er--finagled my way into submitting there...) |
Lavie--
Didn't know until I looked it up, but cool! And Peter Crowther is a heck of a nice guy to work with (especially since I sorta finagled my into submitting there in the first place, heh...) Looks like the list for that issue is incomplete as of yet--wonder who else will show up? |
Hey, Mikal - just saw we're sharing a ToC for the Nov/Dec issue of Postscripts!
The Ts rule! :-) |
My poem "Hyacinth Breaks From The Pack" is now up at Sword Review, for those interested. |
Gratz1, gratzi, signores! |
Yeah, what Josh said!
Justin |
Congrats again on the Postscripts sale! Looking forward to it. |
Cool poem, Mikal! |
My poem "The End-Of-The-World Newsletter" is now up at From The Asylum. (Just look under Monthly Fiction, then December 2005.) |
Congrats! |
Congratulations to both of you! |
Justin Stanchfield and I just sold a story to Black Gate!
Now go over to his topic and tell him to quit being such a wet rag...;p |
Aw, that's why? Well, it was still funny. |
Hey, Mikal.
Drop me a line. I bring tidings of joy and all that jazz. |
Never mind, I just found 'em.
This is Google Ads. They try to match ads with content... Someone should direct them to this and let them know they're now practicing high comedy...heh. |
Okay, you're freaking me out--where are these ads popping up? I have a pop-up blocker, but it's not reacting. Am I seeing a different page than you guys are?
(Ask Jayme Blaschke in his topic too--it might well be a big RevSF joke--but I can't see it!) |
ROTFLOL! Now it's an ad for taxidermy!
("Buffalo, Moose and Antelope Heads.") I think we've found a new game... |
lol, cool, wicked story, Mikal...but now the ads are "Stressed?" and "Panic attacks." LOL! |
I thought it was the perfect bonus touch. ;) |
I didn't notice the ad, Melissa--sheesh! |
And, in further news, my poetry chapbook Up Is Down is now available for purchase. A perfect stocking-stuffer for the not-quite-twisted-enough kiddies in your life...hint, hint. |
LOL! Mikal, is it just coincidence that the ad below your story was for "frozen feeder rodents?" |
I would like to direct your attention to Of Mice And Melody over at RevSF.
Destined to become a holiday classic, I'm sure... |
Mikal--my gawd, that bio is out of date!
Cute poem. I guess I won't look in the litterbox. |
Having 3 kitties at our house, I'm afraid I just don't believe that, Mikal. Perhaps...perhaps I'll choose to decide that the poop is *not* existing whenever I happen to think about it...yeah, that'll work...
*gloom* Not. :^) Cool poem! |
For those who wish to see me making a mockery of science, my poem "Schroedinger's Cat's Litterbox" is now up here. |
I thought he'd upgraded to one of those automated programmes. |
Thanks again, all!
(And Jamie, shut up about the monkeys! Jay Lake might want 'em back!) |
Hey! Congrats on your hundredth!
Justin |
Like I said elsewhere, major congrats on your talent and perseverance. Many authors have one, but few have both.
And I daresay you're the most famous writing living in Lockhart, TX. |
Congratulations, Mikal.
I guess there's something to that whole monkeys/typewriters thing after all. ;) |
Congratulations, and may there be many more. :-) |
Gracias, amigos! |
Conngratulations on the sale and on it being your 100th sale, Mikal! |
100 congratulations! |
Just made my one-hundredth sale.
Still not famous...;p |
I second that. |
Awesome poem! |
My poem "Welcoming Armageddon With Open Arms" is now up at The Sword Review, for those of a notion to look it up... |
Yeah, yeah -- I know pity posts when I see 'em!
;p Thanks, though... |
Good stuff, Mikal! (See, people DO read these posts.) |
I enjoyed both poems, Mikal, "The Man Who Held Infinity" in particular. |
Hey, _I_ love it! |
For those interested (apparently few, considering the wild responses to my last post) my poem "The Man Who Held Infinity" is now up at Abyss & Apex. |
My poem "The Eternal Reunion" is now up here, for those interested. (Near the end of the page). |
Yeah, me and the devil, well we get on like a house on fire...
(Extra points for anyone who identifies the song reference.) |
You guys are just a tun of fun. |
The devil is once again in business here.
Remember, send your letters! He cares. Sometimes. When He thinks about it... |
Is it too late to mention Lucy? |
In fact, it's still a vine time to pun. |
No, it's still oak-ay to whine a bit. |
Is distill the place for pressing issues, or is everybody off tannin before winter sets in? |
Yes, butt we're all trying to outdo it, because we're a barrel of laughs. |
*small voice* Did anybody *get* mine? |
Okay, folks, time to bottle this whole thing up.
Hopefully soon we can celler-brate a new sale. |
Argghhhh! How can you port up with all this?
Justin |
But it's also lots of fun to try to ferment rebellion.
Hi, Justin! I don't mind sharing! |
...and decant take that away from us. |
Shiraz fun while it lasted, though... |
Yes, I see no Riesling to carry this on any further. |
Well, Mikal, if anyone was uncertain how you felt, that post certainly did claret up. It was the mother of all pun posts, and should scotch all confusion. |
Reeeely, people, I am SO Bored...oh, I won't bother you with my problems.
;^> |
Oh, for the love of Pete...
Let's just stomp on this trend before it ripens further, shall we? I'm just vine with the whole situation, really! One port closes, another opens. Still, thanks for sherry-ing your kind words -- I just need to build up a thicker skin. I'm quite over everything, happy and content. I guess all I was feeling turned out to be sham pain... (And with any luck Justin & I will have a lovely counter-sale to take the sting out of this last situation...) |
Yeah. It's no fun to wine about it. |
Really, I'm just as glad you-all have put a cork in it. |
Well, I'm glad that bottleneck was avoided!
(Hey, why should Lori and my topic get all the bad puns! ) |
Flags up, truce called, war over.
Film at eleven... |
Mikal, I live in New York Wine Country. Our grapes are tough and sometimes sour and full of yummy anti-oxidants, and what you're feeling is nothing like them.
This ain't sour grapes. This is war. |
I'm always eager to read fantasy, science fiction and horror for Wild Child...but you knew that, didn't you? ;-)
Jackie |
It's a bit of give-and-take, but I don't think this is just sour grapes (please, I've had enough mags fold before they paid for or published my stuff that it's old hat)--there's another element of the situation that irks me to no end.
'Nuff said, and thanks for the comment, Jackie--now what does Wild Child need right now? (Heh--take the good vibes where I can, I will. I be writer!) |
I already posted this in Josh's author topic, but I'll say it here too: This was grossly unprofessional on their part. I'm very sorry this happened to you and Josh; as an editor and a writer, I'm horrified.
Jackie |
Well, late to the party as always:
If you haven't already been to Josh Rountree's author topic, a story we coauthored that was slated to appear in the first issue of Son & Foe will no longer be presented for your viewing pleasure. After working with the editor on painstakingly nitpicky redrafts. After having our names used for the mag's AD PAGES, fer cryin' out loud. Ah, well. Once bitten, twice rabid--er, shy--yeah, that's the phrase... (Find your own caveats where you will in all this--I merely report the damage.) |
Patrick Samphire (a great humanitarian and a man of exquisite taste) reviewed LSS at Tangent Online, reserving some quite gratifying remarks for my story at the end...
Guess those bribes paid off! |
Thanks, Double-M! |
Oh wow, I like that one... |
My story "Resurrections" is now up at The Sword Review, for those interested. |
Very cool poem! |
My poem "Laura Of The Endless Night" is up at Feral Fiction, for those who might care to take a gander... |
Josh--
Er... I couldn't afford to fill up my car Sunday... (Told you we were broke.) |
Mikal -- where did you run to on Sun? Looked around for you all day. |
Yerah, I didn't expect to see you this time. We had a little RMer gang there for a second or two... |
A pleasure to see you again, Mikal. Maybe I can get back next year and stay for the whole con this time. |
For all the crickets reading this (hear 'em chirping?), here's my Armadillocon schedule:
Sa1200D Stump the Panel: Make Up a SF Use for a Random Object Sat Noon-1:00 PM deWitt Foster, Rainbolt, Taggart, Trimm, Webb* Watch our panel come up with science fictional uses for random objects. Sa1500SD Good Weird Fiction Sat 3:00 PM-4:00 PM South deZavala Crider, Cupp, Lansdale, Marin, Minz, Trimm* Our panelists bring their offbeat favorites to light. Su1100R Slipstream in Monster Trucks Sun 11:00 AM-Noon Robertson Nakashima-Brown*, Nielsen Hayden, Osborne, Reisman, Trimm, Webb The small press explosion of the past couple of years has engendered cultivation of a new literary Bohemia in fantastic fiction that on good days almost looks like a movement. Kinder and gentler than the cyberpunks of 20 years ago, with equal opportunity for women (notwithstanding the upcoming Spicy Slipstream Stories) and no mullets. Witness the Infernokrusher manifesto-in-progress that emerged from June’s Wiscon, where Meghan McCarron proclaimed “We should be drawing names less from wishy-washy words (slip, stream) and more from monster trucks (krusher, inferno).” Now the in-joke is taking on steam — as Benjamin Rosenbaum says, “Demolition is the new deconstruction.” What’s next, slipstream technothrillers? |
Oh, stop it, you lech! My wife might read this thread!
Heh. |
