Farallon De Pajaros (Uracas) is the northernmost island of the Mariana Islands, located 64 km northwest from the Muag Islands and over 760 km north from Guam. With an area of 2 km² and measuring 2 km across the island takes the form of a steep volcanic cone emerging from the sea, reaching a height of 320 m. Its slopes are often precipitous and largely bare, being composed of lava, ash and sulphur deposits. The volcano has erupted at least 16 times since since records began in the mid 1800's, most recently in 1967.

Northwards from Farallon de Pajaros, the next islands to be encountered are those of the Kazan-rettō group (Volcano Islands) — their southernmost member (Minami-Iō-jima) lies 535 km distant, to the northwest.
