Getting Results: the CRE's funding programme for local racial equality work

2007/08 grant awards announced

We have published a list of the 118 organisations that will receive funding under the Getting Results 2007/8 programme:

What about arrangements for funding in 2008/09?

Because the CRE will not operate beyond October 2007, the Getting Results Team are not currently able to confirm what arrangements, if any, will be in place for the 2008/09 funding cycle.

We will bring you news of any further developments on this web page, or alternatively you may wish to check the CEHR's website for funding information as and when it becomes available.

Did you receive Getting Results funding in 2006/7?

If so, we need your completed Grant Monitoring Form by 11 May.

Completing this form is an important part of the contract you signed at the start of your grant. Failure to complete this form within the given period may affect the release of your final 10% payment that was deducted from your last quarter payment and the Commission may seek to recover some or all of the grant payments made to your organisation.

You need to complete this form and send both a paper and electronic version to the Getting Results Team by 11 May 2007.

The report should cover the period from 01 April 2006 to 31 March 2007. If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact your Getting Results grants officer.

You can download the form and guidance notes from the right-hand side of this page. We would be grateful if you could also spare a few minutes to complete and return our customer satisfaction survey.

What is Getting Results?

The CRE aims to provide exceptional services in all areas of our work. This includes the way we award grants. As grants are among the largest items of expenditure in our budget, it is important that we set exemplary standards for making awards.

Our funding strategy is informed by the wider policy environment: the agenda for modernising government, the emphasis on public accountability, public authorities' statutory duties to promote race equality, and the compact between the government and the voluntary sector.

For 2007/8, our funding priorities are unchanged from last year; namely inter-community conflict prevention and resolution and support for victims of racial discrimination and harassment, including casework.

The 2007/8 Getting Results programme

Over the past year, the CRE has built a new, constructive relationship with the voluntary and community sector. In line with our corporate plan, we funded more organisations in 2006/7 and provided much more support to those who missed out on grants in the main funding round.

We are developing a more collaborative approach to meeting the needs of people who use the services of organisations funded through Getting Results.

Our new regional strategy, which created nine 'hubs' in the English regions, has meant that more CRE staff are now on hand to work proactively with funded bodies and community organisations, collating and disseminating information as well as building support for local racial equality work.

We have also improved our evaluation process, focusing our monitoring activity on organisations running projects with the most risks attached to them.

We hope that this year's funding programme, and the extra support available from regionally-based CRE staff, will help to ensure that the needs and voices of all communities are heard.

Who received funding in 2006/7?

Earlier this year, we published a list of the 129 organisations that have secured funding under the new Getting Results round.

A total of £4.2 million is being shared among these organisations in 2006/7. In addition, the CRE has also given small grants to 41 organisations for an additional £250,000. This money has been awarded to help small organisations become more effective at delivering local race equality work and to deliver small one-off projects to ensure greater interaction between different communities through activities like sport, art and music.
