Financial Information

The Information Commissioner receives an annual grant-in-aid from the vote of the Department of Constitutional Affairs to fund the costs of running his Office in undertaking his statutory duties in respect of Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

It is the statutory duty of the Information Commissioner to keep proper accounts and other records in relation to the accounts, and to prepare in respect of each financial year a statement of account in such form as the Secretary of State directs.  Such accounts are subject to statutory audit by the National Audit Office and laid by the Comptroller and Auditor General before each House of Parliament before the summer recess each year in our annual report.
