Women's Love and Relationship Addiction

Individual Groups For Women

The love and relationship addict is in love with love. This person often sees relationships of all types as the answer to self worth and good self image. They often go from relationship to relationship ignoring the groundwork that relationships require. To make matters worse our culture has traditionally glorified love addiction with the notion that we fall in love and live “happily ever after”. This is simply not true. Here are some signs of love and relationship addiction:

  • Lack of nurturing and attention when young

  • Feeling isolated from parents and family

  • Feeling isolated from parents and family

  • Outer façade of “having it together”

  • Mistaking intensity for intimacy (drama driven relationships)

  • Hidden pain

  • Avoidance of rejection and abandonment at all cost

  • Inability to trust others

  • Depression

  • Manipulative and controlling of others

  • Sense of worthlessness without a relationship

  • Conviction that a relationship makes one whole

  • Presence of other addiction problems

  • Driven personality

  • Confusing sex with love

  • Tendency to quickly go from one relationship to another

These people need outside help to solve this problem. The kind of help required is spiritual and is offered by Celebrate Recovery. It starts with turning one’s life and will over to the care and control of Jesus Christ. The love and relationship addict acknowledges they have a problem, and they have not been able to put it under control. They recognize that Jesus Christ is their loving Higher Power, and He will provide all the resources needed to overcome their issues.

The love and relationship addict follows up by attending weekly Celebrate Recovery meetings. In these meetings they learn how to identify the underlying causes of their issues. They also learn how to appropriate God’s power in eliminating them. They learn how to forgive those who have hurt them and to make amends to all the people they have hurt. They learn how to change their focus from themselves to others. The result is lasting freedom and permanent victory.

Over the years many abused people have gone through the Celebrate Recovery program with incredible results. Celebrate Recovery has a success rate much higher than conventional recovery programs. Why not give it a try?
