Oak Tree Clinic

Oak Tree Clinic
The Oak Tree Clinic, a joint program of the BC Children's Hospital and BC Women's Health Centre, is one of the few centres specially designed to serve families affected by HIV. The clinic was started in 1994 after pediatricians caring for children with HIV realized many of the mothers were not receiving care. The Oak Tree Clinic offers interdisciplinary consultative care, education, health promotion and access to clinical research. Members of the team include adult and children's infectious disease specialists, an HIV-specialized obstetrician-gynaecologist, nurses, social workers, pharmacists and dieticians. Oak Tree Clinic's professionals are working with the Centre in order to provide the best treatment and to bridge the education gap for patients infected with HIV.
