King Christian Island overview map King Christian Island is located in the high Arctic region, on the western side of the Queen Elizabeth Islands group, situated 13.5 km off the southwestern coast of Ellef Ringnes Island, which it is separated from by the Danish Strait. To the south, the wide waters of the McClean Strait lead across to Bathurst Island. Besides Ellef Ringnes Island, significant near neighbours to King Christian Island include Lougheed Island, 67 km to the southwest.

At 645 km² in area, the island measures 40 km by 26 km. From its broad coastal belt the landscape rises gently to a flat to rolling interior region where average elevations range from 40 m to 110 m above sea level. A highest pont above sea level of 165 m is reached at the unofficially named King Christian Mountain.
